The Return of Pyro: Aaron Stanford Returns to the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine

Aaron Stanford is set to make a comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Pyro in the highly anticipated film Deadpool & Wolverine. The news was revealed in the recently released trailer during the Super Bowl on Sunday. Stanford previously portrayed Pyro in X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand. In a statement to Deadline, Stanford expressed his excitement about revisiting the character and mentioned that he couldn’t think of a better place for Pyro’s resurrection than the Deadpool universe.

While specific plot details of the film have been kept under wraps, director Shawn Levy shared some insights during last year’s Toronto Film Festival. He mentioned that the goal for Deadpool & Wolverine was to create a movie that feels “grounded” and “real.” Levy drew inspiration from films like Midnight Run, 48 Hours, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. This suggests that the film may have a more serious and character-driven tone compared to some of the other films in the superhero genre.

Matthew Vaughn’s excitement

Matthew Vaughn, known for his work on Marvel titles like X-Men: First Class, expressed his excitement for Deadpool & Wolverine during an appearance on BroBible’s Post-Credit podcast. He revealed that he had seen snippets of the film that were “unbelievable.” Vaughn went on to say that he believes the film will be a game-changer for the Marvel universe and praised the performances of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, stating that they are about to save the entire Marvel universe.

Apart from his portrayal of Pyro in the X-Men franchise, Aaron Stanford has had a diverse acting career. He recently starred in Paramount’s Finestkind alongside Ben Foster, Clayne Crawford, Jenna Ortega, and Tommy Lee Jones. Stanford has also been a series regular on popular shows like Syfy’s 12 Monkeys, CW’s Nikita, and ABC’s Traveler. He has had recurring roles in HBO’s Perry Mason, AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead, NBC’s Third Watch, and has made guest appearances on Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard, AMC’s Mad Men, and CBS’ Numb3rs. Stanford’s performances in films such as The Hills Have Eyes, Tadpole, Hollywood Ending, and 25th Hour have earned him recognition in the industry.

With Aaron Stanford reprising his role as Pyro and the film’s potential to bring a fresh and grounded take on the superhero genre, Deadpool & Wolverine has generated high expectations among fans and industry experts alike. The combination of Stanford’s talent, the visionary direction of Shawn Levy, and the excitement expressed by Matthew Vaughn raises anticipation for a remarkable film that could have an impact on the wider Marvel universe. As fans eagerly await more details about the film, it’s clear that the return of Pyro will be an exciting event for MCU enthusiasts.
