Misunderstanding of Madonna’s Late Concerts

Madonna’s recent lawsuit, in which fans claimed she started her concerts hours past the advertised time, has been requested for dismissal by the pop star’s lawyers. The lawsuit, filed by Michael Fellows and Jonathan Hadden, argued that fans had to “get up early to go to work” the next day and therefore, suffered legal “injury.” However, Madonna’s legal team contended that the timing of the concerts was not unreasonable and that fans received what they paid for.

The plaintiffs accused Madonna of falsely advertising her concerts at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, stating that she did not hit the stage until after 10:30 p.m., despite the shows being listed to start at 8:30 p.m. They claimed her tardiness was a deliberate act of false advertising, negligent misrepresentation, and unfair trade practices. However, Madonna’s lawyers argued that there was no deception in the concert’s start times.

Madonna’s legal team clarified that nowhere in the advertisements did it mention the pop star would perform at the exact time printed on the ticket. They indicated that the doors of the venue would open early, opening acts would perform before Madonna, and the headliner would take the stage later in the evening. The lawyers maintained that no reasonable concertgoer would expect Madonna to start exactly at the ticketed event time.

Despite the legal arguments, several fans expressed their dissatisfaction with Madonna’s late starts on social media. Some fans demanded refunds, while others criticized her for being disrespectful and rude for beginning the shows hours after the advertised time. Even public figures like Sara Haines from “The View” condemned Madonna’s behavior, describing it as disrespectful to the fans who paid to watch her perform.

Madonna’s recent “Celebration” tour has been marred by controversies, starting from her delayed start due to a severe bacterial infection to her onstage fall in Seattle and confrontation with a wheelchair-bound concertgoer in Los Angeles. These incidents have overshadowed the tour’s performances and generated negative press for the iconic pop star.
