Brandon Blackstock Responds to Kelly Clarkson’s Lawsuit

Brandon Blackstock recently responded to ex-wife Kelly Clarkson’s latest lawsuit concerning a ruling by a California labor commissioner. The lawsuit claims that Blackstock should pay Clarkson more than the $2.6 million that was determined to be owed to her since 2007 when she entered into an agreement with his family’s company, Starstruck Entertainment. Blackstock denied all allegations made by Clarkson and argued that the filing should be dismissed due to the timeline of the labor commissioner’s ruling.

Blackstock’s legal team contends that Clarkson failed to file a notice of appeal within the required time frame, which prevents her from seeking more than the $2.6 million that was initially ruled. Therefore, according to legal documents obtained, Blackstock argues that it is outside the jurisdiction for Clarkson to file a separate lawsuit at this time. The documents further claim that any alleged payments made to Clarkson in connection with her work were already paid out from Blackstock and the community estate.

Additionally, Blackstock’s legal team argues that Clarkson’s complaint does not provide enough factual evidence to constitute a cause of action against Starstruck Entertainment. They maintain that the complaint is inadequate and therefore should not be upheld in court. Representatives for Clarkson have not yet commented on the situation.

In March, Kelly Clarkson filed a new lawsuit against Brandon Blackstock after the labor commissioner ruled that Blackstock and Starstruck Entertainment had violated California’s Talent Agencies Act. The ruling suggested that Blackstock should not have been involved in procuring employment for Clarkson without being a licensed agent. Clarkson’s lawsuit demands that all agreements between them be voided, and any money paid to Starstruck should be returned.

This legal battle is just one chapter in the ongoing disputes between Clarkson and Blackstock. Previous lawsuits have been filed against Clarkson for unpaid commissions on her various projects, leading to a complicated and contentious situation between the former couple. Despite their marriage ending in 2020, the legal battles over financial matters have continued to be a point of contention.

The response from Brandon Blackstock to Kelly Clarkson’s latest lawsuit highlights the complexities of their ongoing legal disputes. The challenges to jurisdiction, lack of sufficient cause of action, and the back-and-forth nature of the legal battles demonstrate the depth of animosity between the ex-spouses. As this legal saga continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the courts will ultimately rule on the matter and what implications it will have for both parties involved.
