CBS Renews The Equalizer for Fifth Season in 2024-25

CBS has officially announced the renewal of the hit drama series, The Equalizer, for a fifth season set to air in 2024-25. This news comes as no surprise, as the show has been a strong performer for the network. The delay in the renewal was due to negotiations with lead star and executive producer, Queen Latifah. However, the deal has been finalized, paving the way for another exciting season of The Equalizer.

In previous seasons, The Equalizer has had a total of 18 episodes each. While there was an effort to increase the number of episodes to 20 or more for Season 5, it has been confirmed that the upcoming season will also consist of 18 episodes. This decision is in line with the preferences of top talent in broadcast drama series. The Equalizer has consistently been one of the most watched non-sports broadcast programs, with an average of 7.89 million linear viewers.

With the renewal of The Equalizer, CBS has solidified its lineup for the upcoming seasons. While some shows like NCIS: Hawai’i are still in limbo, with tough business conversations surrounding their future, most of the network’s comedies and dramas have already been renewed. The Equalizer joins the ranks of other successful CBS shows like Blue Bloods, which will be ending its run with eight episodes in the fall.

“The Equalizer, led by the incomparable Queen Latifah, has all the best elements of a powerful drama,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. The show has been lauded for its suspense, heroism, high stakes, and formidable characters that keep the audience invested. Additionally, The Equalizer is the #1 entertainment program among African Americans, highlighting its broad appeal and diverse viewership.

The Equalizer is a reimagining of the classic series, starring Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall, a former CIA operative who uses her skills to help those in need. The show also features a talented ensemble cast including Lorraine Toussaint, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, and Laya DeLeon Hayes. With its gripping storyline and strong character development, The Equalizer continues to captivate audiences season after season.

The renewal of The Equalizer for a fifth season is a testament to its success and popularity among viewers. The show’s compelling narrative, talented cast, and high production value have solidified its place as a flagship drama series for CBS. As fans eagerly await the premiere of Season 5 in 2024-25, The Equalizer is sure to deliver yet another thrilling and unforgettable season of action-packed entertainment.
