UCP, in collaboration with Side Naegle, Jenna Bush Hager’s Thousand Voices, and Ali Krug’s Dinner Party Productions, is embarking on the development of a series adaptation of Chris Whitaker’s latest novel, “All the Colors of the Dark.” This endeavor brings together a team of talented individuals to bring the story to life on the screen.
The Storyline
Set in the small town of Monta Clare, Missouri, the novel centers around the abduction of a teenage girl that is intervened by an unlikely hero, Patch, a one-eyed local boy who sees himself as a pirate. Patch’s actions not only save the girl but also set off a chain of events that leave a trail of heartache in their wake. Alongside Patch is his best friend, Saint, whose unwavering loyalty is tested as they navigate the fine line between triumph and tragedy in their quest for answers.
Sarah Gubbins, known for her work on “Pam & Tommy” and “Better Things,” has been tapped to adapt Whitaker’s novel for the screen. The executive producers include Naegle, Krug, Hager, Ben Spector, and Whitaker himself, who is also the author of acclaimed works like “Tall Oaks,” “All the Wicked Girls,” and “We Begin at the End.” Their collaboration promises to bring the intricate narrative of “All the Colors of the Dark” to television audiences.
Jenna Bush Hager expressed her enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the novel’s unique blend of small-town America, friendship, and thriller elements.
