Deadpool & Wolverine Hits $1B Global Box Office Milestone

Deadpool & Wolverine has officially crossed the $1B global box office milestone this weekend, with $1.029B+ through Sunday. The international box office portion of the Marvel/Disney collaboration is $535.2M and the domestic box office is $494.3M, adding up to a total of $1,029.5M. This achievement makes it only the second U.S. R-rated movie ever to reach this milestone, following 2019’s Joker.

Surpassing Joker

Deadpool & Wolverine is on track to surpass Joker’s $1.079B gross by the end of this week, making it the biggest R-rated movie of all time globally. This success also adds to its list of records as the movie reached $1B faster than Joker, even though the latter film did not have a release in China.

Disney continues to shine in the box office realm with Deadpool & Wolverine being its second billion-dollar grosser this year, following Inside Out 2. This marks Disney as the only studio to have back-to-back $1B releases in a year. In total, Disney is home to 31 of the 55 industry titles that have passed the $1B threshold, including three Fox titles.

The current weekend saw Deadpool & Wolverine holding strong as the No. 1 non-local movie in most markets, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, and Mexico. The movie’s gross in its third frame was $57.8M, with a strong hold at -48%. The top 10 markets for the movie to date include China, UK, Mexico, Australia, Germany, France, Brazil, Spain, India, and Italy, showcasing its global dominance.

Deadpool & Wolverine has solidified its place in cinematic history by joining the elite $1B club and breaking records along the way. With Disney’s continued success and the movie’s impressive global performance, it is clear that the Deadpool franchise is a force to be reckoned with in the box office world.
