Former Top Aide Melissa DeRosa Considering a Political Run

Rumors have been circulating about the possibility of former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo making a political comeback, perhaps even as the Mayor of New York City. However, it seems that Cuomo’s former top aide, Melissa DeRosa, has her sights set on her own political future. While promoting her recent book, “What’s Left Unsaid: My Life at the Center of Power, Politics & Crisis,” DeRosa has been open to the idea of running for public office. In an interview with WCBS-TV’s Marcia Kramer, she expressed her disappointment in the current state of government and her desire to make a difference through public service.

During the interview, DeRosa stated, “I always thought at some point I may run for something.” She further revealed that as she distanced herself from her past experiences, the idea of a political career became more appealing to her. DeRosa firmly believes that public service is where she can make the most impact and has expressed her desire to contribute further. According to a political source, DeRosa was included in a recent political poll conducted within the last few weeks. Given her significant influence as an unelected individual in New York state at the young age of 34, it would be unwise to dismiss the possibility of her running for office.

When asked for comment, DeRosa responded with a simple “Never say never.” This statement suggests that she is seriously considering the idea of entering the political arena. It is clear that DeRosa has not ruled out the possibility and is open to the idea of pursuing a career in public office.

DeRosa’s book offers a defense of her former boss, Andrew Cuomo, while also providing insights into other prominent figures such as Donald Trump, Mayor Eric Adams, and New York Attorney General Letitia James. However, both James and Adams have responded to DeRosa’s claims. The book has sparked controversy and further fueled speculation about Cuomo’s potential mayoral campaign if Eric Adams is unable to continue due to ongoing federal and state investigations into his campaign’s fundraising activities.

It appears that Melissa DeRosa, Cuomo’s former chief of staff, has her eyes on a political future. Her openness to the idea of running for office, coupled with her significant influence and experience in New York state politics, makes her a compelling candidate. While it remains to be seen whether she will ultimately pursue a political career, it is evident that DeRosa has not closed the door on this possibility.
