Leslie Grossman Joins the Cast of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story”

Leslie Grossman, known for her role in “American Horror Story,” is set to join the cast of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” This second installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s true-crime anthology series will be available on Netflix in 2024. Grossman will portray Judalon Smyth, a former patient and mistress of Dr. Jerome Oziel. Smyth found herself entangled in the Menendez case and ultimately played a key role in the arrests of Lyle and Erik.

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” boasts an impressive cast. Nicholas Chavez and Cooper Koch will take on the roles of Lyle and Erik, while Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny will portray their parents. Nathan Lane will star as Dominick Dunne, with Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson. With such talented actors on board, the series is sure to captivate audiences.

The Menendez brothers shocked the nation in 1989 when they brutally murdered their parents, Jose and Kitty, in their Los Angeles home. Initially, they were not considered prime suspects, but as the months passed, they became the focus of the investigation. Eventually, Lyle and Erik confessed to the parricide, claiming that they had endured years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their father.

The Menendez case became a media sensation, much like the infamous O.J. Simpson trial in 1994. The first trial was broadcast on Court TV and held the nation captive. It is said to have played a significant role in the modern-day obsession with true crime. The prosecution argued that the brothers were motivated by their desire to inherit their father’s multimillion-dollar estate. In 1996, they were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.

A Successful Anthology Series

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” is the follow-up installment to “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” The first season, starring Evan Peters as the notorious serial killer, premiered in September 2022 and quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular English-language series. Its success led to the green light for two more installments, with the Menendez story being the first.

Leslie Grossman has made a name for herself through her involvement in Ryan Murphy’s hit series, “American Horror Story.” Her talent and versatility have earned her recurring roles in various television shows, including “Love, Victor,” “The Goldbergs,” “Goliath,” and “The Good Place.” Grossman’s addition to the cast of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” is an exciting development for fans of true-crime dramas.

As the release of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” draws closer, audiences eagerly anticipate another gripping installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s anthology series. With an engaging storyline, a talented cast, and the addition of Leslie Grossman, this true-crime drama is sure to captivate viewers once again.
