Sofia Vergara Not Ready for a Modern Family Reboot

Sofia Vergara, known for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the hit sitcom Modern Family, recently appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and addressed the rumors of a possible reboot. While fans may be eagerly awaiting a reunion, the Colombian star seems to think otherwise.

When Fallon questioned whether it was time for a reboot, Vergara quickly responded, “No, it’s only been four years.” She expressed her belief that more time was necessary before considering a reunion, stating, “I don’t know when, but it doesn’t seem right. I feel like we need a little bit more time.”

Fallon, however, had another idea. He suggested the cast get together for a holiday special, to which Vergara agreed. She even asked Fallon to produce the show. It seems that while a full-fledged reboot may be out of the question, a one-time holiday special could be a possibility.

Vergara revealed that she remains in contact with all of her former co-stars through a group chat. However, one cast member who seems to struggle with keeping up is Ed O’Neill. Vergara jokingly mentioned that O’Neill is not particularly fond of texting and often takes up to 26 weeks to respond to messages. By that time, the conversation has usually been forgotten.

Modern Family was a beloved television show produced by 20th Television and aired on ABC for 11 seasons, from 2009 to 2020. The series concluded with a total of 250 episodes. Alongside Vergara and O’Neill, the ensemble cast included Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons.

While fans may be disappointed to hear that a reboot is not on the horizon, it is important to appreciate the legacy and impact of Modern Family. The show provided a fresh and comedic portrayal of a modern blended family, tackling important social issues with humor and heart. Its success was evident through its numerous accolades, including 22 Primetime Emmy Awards.

As much as fans may long for a Modern Family reboot, Sofia Vergara’s recent comments suggest it may be too soon for such a comeback. However, the idea of a holiday special is not entirely off the table, adding a glimmer of hope for fans. Until then, we can cherish the memories and lessons imparted by the original series, knowing that Modern Family will forever hold a special place in television history.
