The Comedian’s Take on the Debate

Taylor Tomlinson, the comedian known for her work on AfterMidnight, took a different approach to last night’s debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. While Tomlinson typically steers clear of politics in her comedy routine, she couldn’t resist weighing in on the absurdity of the debate. She joked about the alarming lies being spread and the way the media portrays the clashes between the two candidates.

In her critique of Trump’s debate performance, Tomlinson highlighted some of the more ludicrous claims he made, such as accusing Harris of wanting to perform transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison and immigrants eating pets in Ohio. She described these claims as sounding like “bad conservative Mad Libs” and even went so far as to suggest that Trump was simply trying to fill out a bingo card with his statements.

Tomlinson also took aim at the undecided voters watching the debate, expressing pity for their inability to make a decision. She humorously imagined the inner dialogue of an undecided voter trying to choose between a sandwich and chewing on broken glass for lunch. Her sarcastic comments highlighted the absurdity of the debate process and the challenge of appealing to this undecided group.

One of the standout moments of Tomlinson’s commentary was her blunt reality check for Trump regarding his claims about pet-eating immigrants on television. She reminded him that the people on television are not real, referencing fictional characters like Tony Soprano and Ross and Rachel from “Friends.” Her witty remarks punctured the inflated rhetoric of Trump’s claims and injected a dose of humor into the debate analysis.

Changes to the Show

Tomlinson also made light of the changes to her show, After Midnight, in its second season. With a new co-showrunner and shifts in the show format, she joked about the randomness of a big couch on set and the lack of a clear plan. Her self-deprecating humor and playful jabs at the production process added a lighter touch to the discussion of the show’s evolution.

After Midnight is a collaborative effort involving CBS Studios, Spartina Industries, and Funny Or Die. The show features a team of executive producers, including J.D. Amato, Jack Martin, Stephen Colbert, and others. With a mix of comedic talent and production expertise, After Midnight brings together a diverse group of creatives to deliver a unique late-night comedy experience.

Taylor Tomlinson’s comedic take on the recent debate provided a refreshing and humorous perspective on the political event. By infusing her analysis with wit and satire, she turned a serious topic into a lighthearted and entertaining critique. Her observations on Trump’s outlandish claims, undecided voters, and the production of After Midnight added depth and humor to the conversation, showcasing her talent as a comedian and commentator.
