The Exciting Stage Adaptation of Withnail and I Starring Robert Sheehan

BAFTA-nominated actor Robert Sheehan, known for his role in The Umbrella Academy, is set to lead a stage adaptation of Bruce Robinson’s cult classic Withnail and I at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. This exciting new production will also feature actors Adonis Siddique and Malcolm Sinclair in leading roles. Directed by the talented Sean Foley, Artistic Director of Birmingham Rep, and designed by Alice Power, the show is scheduled to debut at Birmingham Repertory Theatre with performances running from May 3 to May 25, 2024.

The adaptation of Withnail and I was written by the original author, Bruce Robinson. The film, which was based on an unpublished novel by Robinson, was a cult favorite and was produced by Handmade Films. The stage production will see Robert Sheehan as Withnail, Adonis Siddique as Marwood, and Malcolm Sinclair as Uncle Monty. The original film starred Richard E Grant, Paul McGann, and Richard Griffiths.

Robert Sheehan made his acting debut in Aisling Walsh’s acclaimed feature Song For A Raggy Boy. His impressive screen credits include Season of the Witch, Cherrybomb, and The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. He has also showcased his talent on stage in productions such as The Playboy of the Western World and Richard III. Sheehan’s versatility and skill as an actor make him a perfect fit for the role of Withnail in this upcoming stage adaptation.

Adonis Siddique, who will be portraying Marwood in the stage production, has an impressive theater background. His previous credits include The Crown Jewels, East Is East, and The Picture Of Dorian Gray. Siddique has also appeared in film and television projects such as Newark Newark, Tyrant, and Me Myself and D. His experience and talent will undoubtedly bring depth to the character of Marwood in Withnail and I.
