Contrary to Smith’s claims, Gooding insisted that his relationship with Diddy was nothing more than acquaintanceship. He mentioned that they were introduced by his girlfriend, Claudine De Niro, in 2019 or 2020, and that they did not share a deep or intimate connection as implied in the lawsuit. Gooding stressed that he is not privy to Diddy’s personal life and emphasized that Smith’s motives seem to be rooted in financial gain rather than truth.
It is important to note that in 2022, Gooding pleaded guilty to a forcible touching misdemeanor charge for an incident that occurred in 2018. While this previous legal issue does cast a shadow over his character, it is crucial to separate it from the current allegations made by Smith. Gooding’s past mistakes should not automatically deem him guilty of the accusations brought against him in this particular case.
